so we can send out your light!
All three of us girls, Lisa, Yvette and Suzanne, trust our flocks to Nite Guard solar predator lights. Solar-powered and extremely affordable, we love that you just hang them around your run and then forget all about them while they do their job night after night keeping predators of all kinds away from your coop. NiteGuard was our very first sponsor and we were fans of theirs long before that!
Keeping our chickens safe is our #1 priority and with the NiteGuard lights we sleep much better knowing they are protecting the perimeter of the run, literally keeping predators from coming anywhere near the coop. And we know our hens sleep far better as well.
With the recent snow we got, it's easy to see what kind of danger lurks at night, and I've seen evidence of foxes and raccoons most recently, while Yvette has seen bobcat and weasel prints!
Even without prints in the snow, it's possible to figure out what kind of predators you need to worry about using a trail cam, scat, prints in mud or sometimes, sadly, the remains of one of your hens But hopefully you can identify and remove the unwanted predators before you lose any of your flock.

Here's more information on different predators and some trademark signs to look for as well as how to trap them.
NiteGuard lights properly installed around your coop and run serve to add another layer of protection for your sleeping flock. A securely locked coop is a necessity of course, but the lights ensure that nothing even comes close to your run or tries to tear through the fencing or dig underneath.
A raccoon will literally spend ALL NIGHT trying to get your coop door open, rip off the mesh on the vents or other dastardly pursuits. They are smart, persistent and we have heard horror stories about the damage they have done to both coops and run fencing trying to get at hens. And just think of the poor chickens inside knowing a predator is just on the other side of the wall!
Spring is a prime time for predators to be out looking for food since they often have babies to feed and other food sources have been scarce over the winter, so now is a good time to think about increased run security.
NiteGuard has generously offered to send a light to each of four (4) winners to try out for yourself. It's easy to enter:

i have reccons that walk my brick wall that is at the back of the girls house. i would love this...
ReplyDeleteWe have literally tried to build fort Knox for our chickens ducks and turkeys but still have to look out for racoons and foxes. I'd love to try the night guard lights
ReplyDeleteWe have raccoons, possums, and rats that I worry about, especially with the silkies.
ReplyDeleteWe have a pesky wolf!!! Amanda McNeal at IddyBit Acre's
ReplyDeleteIt's so weird, I live next to woods, yet I've never had a predator near my chicken run or coop...but I worry there will be one EVENTUALLY! We have raccoons, opossums and pretty much everything else out here, even bears. So far my chickens have been safe but I'd rather protect them than lose any
ReplyDeleteWe have raccoons and possums!
ReplyDeletemink....coons...and few others
ReplyDeleteWe lost one of our girls to a raccoon last year, and we now have a new coop--which I lovingly call the "chicken fortress." Still, I saw two raccoons last night in a tree by our house, and I was hopelessly paranoid all night (even though I need two hands to open the coop door now.) I think the NiteGuard light would be a fabulous help.
ReplyDeleteWe've had problems with raccoons taking our chickens. One year we had a coyote take some turkeys, too.
ReplyDeleteWell my parents just had a racoon in their house and they live a 5 minute drive from me, but all I have ever seen in our yard is neighbor cat's pawprints.
ReplyDeleteI worry about hawks and raccoons.
ReplyDeleteI've had my eye on one of these for ages! What I'm most worried about around here is the coyotes.. they've been stalking our place now since last summer :(
ReplyDeleteI worry most about racoons. One nearly killed my whole flock before my hubby got it then another one came around. I wounded it but it came back and wounded my chickens so bad i had to kill them it was horrible i really hate raccons
ReplyDeleteRaccoons, weasels & coyotes are the main ones I worry about here.
ReplyDeleteI worry about racooons the most.. big suckers up here
ReplyDeleteOkay, I worry about the neighbor's dog, raccoons, skunks, opossums, hawks during the day. I want to start a flock at our family farm, where there is lots of room, and there is already an old milk/spring house that my Dad used as a chicken coop years ago. Having a lock tight, almost critter proof coop is one of my road blocks to getting my own flock started! My parents passed away, and I have 2 brothers who live at the farm, who will help me with my chickens and I'm there very often, I already tend a huge garden and am in the process of building a greenhouse from part of our old barn, and once chickens come along, I'll be there every couple of days, but I worry about not being able to check on my birds every night, once a momma (of humans!), we always worry about our babies being tucked in at night, chickens are no different! Being able to have a night time light to scare away critters will give me some peace of mind. I have such big dreams, I just have to make sure everything is ready to go, before I jump in with both feet, and night lights are on my list of 'must have' items!
ReplyDeleteI'm worried about coyotes, bobcats and cougars!
ReplyDeleteI worry about foxes, raccoon, rats, anything that can get my Hens.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this opportunity because my girls need this. They have to worry about smarter than a 5th grader raccoons, coyotes that like to dig under fences and if that wasn't enough bombers from above (owls and eagles). We live in Duvall, Washingon on a 100 acre farm that sits with several other hundred acre farms. So not very many human deterrants. :( This Nite Guard would give me peace of mind and another defense for my lovely beautiful girls. - Miranda Lewis
ReplyDeleteI worry about possums! I had several last summer that killed 20 of my chicks, I know it was a possum cause I walked into the chicken house at 11pm and caught it in action! I was a first time chicken owner. I am ordering more chicks this year to start over and this time I will be ready!
ReplyDeleteWe have every predator you can imagine here in the foothills: coyotes, raccoons, bobcats, foxes, cougars -- even bears.
ReplyDeleteBut it's the foxes I worry about the most because we have a family of them that set up home nearby!
Raccoons are the biggest issue around me.
ReplyDeleteI have huge raccoons that like to prowl around at night! When I'm away from home past dark I'm always worried about the coop doors not being shut. This would be a great product to have for peace of mind. Thanks for offering such a nice giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI am one of your regular followers (GFC & Networkedblogs). I worry about raccoons getting to our chickens. Thanks for doing this giveaway!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.countrifiedhicks.com
http://www.facebook.com/countrifiedhicks
We worry about racoons in our area getting in our pens. Love your blogs!
ReplyDeleteI've seen racoons in our area, and skunks.
ReplyDeleteNot knowing exactly where we're going to end up this spring when we finally get our chickies out of the suburbs and onto some land, we could easily be facing raccoons, foxes, coyotes, mountain lions, and bears. We're already thinking NiteGuard is going to be the way to go!
ReplyDeletePossum....a very BIG one LOL
ReplyDeleteRaccoons and opossums are the threat here (and coyotes but the coop keeps them out)--and I'd love to win one because I've already lost chickens to night predators. I've even considered an electric fence! During the day (when I often let them out), I've lost one to a hawk & another to a stupid dog that a distant neighbor wouldn't keep locked up, etc. SO frustrating!
ReplyDeleteRaccoons are the worst. They are huge here. Tracy Slinkard slink@franklinisp.net
ReplyDeletePossums. Horrible things that carry the epm parasite so they can make my horses sick. They kill chickens and don't even eat all they kill.
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at these in Mother Earth News and thinking about how much you love yours. Sign me up please.
ReplyDeletedaveandkelly1@gmail.com
I lost 17 chickens in one night at the hands of a weasel that got locked in the barn :(
ReplyDeleteWe have lost a handful of chickens to hawks and eagles, but am also concerned about coyotes since we hear them quite often in our area at night. We have seen raccoons and opossums in our area as well.
ReplyDeleteSo far I've not seen any raccoons, but we are flooded with oposums! And I can hear the coyotes howling every night!!!
ReplyDeleteI need very bad. Something took out four chickens and once. Feathers everwhere.
ReplyDeletethis gadget is on my amazon wish list..would love to win one lakeeissa@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteOur predators are always of the unknown variety.
ReplyDeleteWow do I need this. I have had a huge momma racoon and her 3 babies, I have had bear, deer, hawks, opossums, fox, and coyote come into my yard!(living in the boonies doesn't help lol). This to me would be a life saver for my girls. I am so afraid of leaving my hardware cloth windows open at night even a slight crack and even in hot weather because of these animals being in my yard. Please enter me into this contest as this would definitely be a must have for my coop and run. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win this item a must have for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteOur primary predator is possums but we have several others around...fox, coyote... Would love to have something to help out with protecting the flocks!
ReplyDeleteWe hear coyotes in the distance around our farm, but last year, we found a weasel that thankfully our cats took care of. Great give-away... as always!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! Our biggest concern is coyotes.
ReplyDeleteI suppose our concern would be opossums and rats. There are occasional deer in our yard and I'm not sure what they'd do. I've seen several positive comments about Nite Guard. Would love to win!
ReplyDeleteI live in MS. We have plenty of raccoons, opossums, and red foxes! There are also coyotes in the area, but so far I haven't seen one near my coops.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the give-away! We are mostly concerned about foxes, haven't bothered the girls yet, but I see them all the time. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteoppossums and raccoons are my problem at night hawks during the day and it makes me so crazy
ReplyDeleteRaccoons, oppossums, skunks, house cats, weasels.... etc! We have them all and would love to keep them away!!!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, we've got raccoons, skunks, fox, coyotes, recently spotted wolves, a bear last summer, and we were told to start watching out for mountain lions and bobcats as their numbers are apparently up. One of these would be great! :)
ReplyDeleteRaccoons, skunks, weasels and coyotes. Would love to keep these at bay. I am planing on raising pheasants and quail in the spring. I would love to win this.
ReplyDeleteI have lost too many of my friends, (cats, chickens and ducks), to predators this winter. I lost my favorite duck to a coyote, who came right up my driveway,(snagged him from in front of my garage door where Sassy was taking his evening bath), two days ago. If spotlights and the scent of people and dogs don't keep them away, I do not know what to do. I heard about these lights and was getting ready to buy a couple to try out. It would be wonderful to win one allowing me to purchase even more to put up in the yard, if they work as well as I hear they do. I have a large yard that has many access points so need a quite a few to cover them and protect it.
ReplyDeleteSassy was a my pet and my Black Labs best friend. He was the duck who taught me how fun and smart they can be and he will be missed greatly.
I lost my oldest duck to a predator about a month ago and I've been trying to figure out what I could do, besides all night stakeouts, to catch what it was that broke in. I'm assuming the culprit is either a fox or stray dogs that attacked my ducks. I would love to win a NiteGuard! And will be purchasing a set!
ReplyDeleteFoxes and raccoons they are our biggest worry. We have a fox trail that runs right by our property boarder, which we didn't realize when we built the coop...ahh... newbies and all the mistakes we make!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting ready to add my first flock to our backyard farming venture and would love to have a NiteGuard! We have raccoons, opposums, and a neighborhood hawk.
ReplyDeleteIn my neighborhood (Cumming, GA.) night time predators include oppossums, feral cats, and racoons. During the day we have had a stray dog attack and a hawk attack! Fortunately I have not lost any of my girls. I would LOVE to win the NiteGuard. Thank you for the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteI am concerned about hawks. We saw one swoop down and grab a hen quicker than anyone could anything about. We also have opossums and raccoons in our area.
ReplyDeleteI live in the foothills and have all predators that come with it. I have barking dogs but would love to get some of the NiteGuard as added protection.
ReplyDeleteOh and I forgot to say that I worry most about the packs of coyotes living in the Christmas tree and nursery fields surrounding us and the pair of Red-Tailed Hawks living in the tall fir trees surrounding our property. They think I am running a buffet for them this winter. First real trouble we have had other than an occasional visit in the past. Never as bold as they are this year.
ReplyDeleteI lost several of my chickens this fall due to a preditor. This would have been a big help!
ReplyDeleteRaccoon's and believe it or not cats!! We have some large stray cats!
ReplyDeleteRaccoons and skunks mostly. Our coop is well closed at night and the screen goes down like 2 feet in the ground but that would be extra safety for our flock. I would love to win this.

Deleteracoons, possums, and who knows what else is out there at night..
DeleteWe have bears here but I don't think they would bother chickens. Owls on the other hand are fierce predators.
ReplyDeleteI worry about coyotes, racoons, skunks, all kinds of evil little critters up here!!
ReplyDeleteWe have fox and coyote here--we've seen their tracks in the snow.. I'd love to see what else is out there!
ReplyDeleteWe have mink's that kill for the fun of it. We saved our two ducks, but lost 7 beautiful hens.
ReplyDeleteI worry about raccoons and foxes here in North Georgia. We live on five hilly, wooded acres and have seen both. We also have neighborhood dogs that run loose; also feral cats. I would love to have a nite guard lite. E Qualls
ReplyDeleteWe have fox, coyotes and birds of prey to worry about in our area
ReplyDeleteWe have raccoons, opossums and coyotes. All of them are EVIL!
ReplyDeletePatty Topp
turtletopp07 at aol dot com
Would love to have one of these! I probably need to buy several in fact.
ReplyDeleteWe really need one of these. We have deer, rabbits, elk, foxes, you name it we got it!
ReplyDeleteyou name it we got it... hawks, owls, raccoons, opossums and coyote to name a few... NiteGuard Solar Predator Lights are a must...!!
ReplyDeletewould love to try one of these, have foxes, cyotes, racoons and hawks around my place
ReplyDeleteI mostly worry about raccoons, though there are coyotes, hawks, and a ton of others around us.
ReplyDeleteWe had a raccoon break into the run, and pulled juvenile Silkies through the wire on the coop. It was a horrible thing that I hope I never have to go through again.
I mostly worry about hawks and owls........but I say never take chances....
ReplyDeleteI mostly worry about hawks and owls.....
ReplyDeleteWe are surrounded by a tree line, so every day is a battle with coyotes, possums, racoons and others I'm sure I don't see.
ReplyDeleteI live on the woods and am worried about Opussums and Raccons getting in at night. I have a covered run, with hardware cloth surround and skirt. It's just the night time for the actual hen house. It is secure, but I guess you can never be too careful, especially in the Summer when it will have more ventilation added. I am looking in to getting at least one or two Night Guard's for added security.
ReplyDeleteI live in rural NH so I have lots of worries about predators. I haven't seen any racoons, but there have been foxes and bears around our house! I would love some extra security!
ReplyDeleteGetting ready to move into a very rural home. Already seen evidence of coyote, bear, and other predators. Would love to have more firepower in my arsenal! Already set up a night vision camera to help us know what kind of critters we are going to have to deal with.
ReplyDeleteWe have coyote and raccoon around here. I don't have chickens yet but was planning to get some this spring. One of those sure would come in handy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this give-away!
ReplyDeleteThere are now coyotes roaming the farmland behind us that weren't there when hubby was growing up, so one of these would be a definite help!
I don't twitter, and I already follow you here and on facebook.
Have a wonderful week!
We have coyotes, foxes, racoons, possums, skunks. You name it, we got it.
ReplyDeleteThey are always stealing our chickens and ducks, so we could really use one of these things.
Kimberly
In the meantime, everyone needs to be locked up safely at night and in an enclosed run by day if predators keep killing them.
DeleteRaccoons, coyotes, foxes and skunks. So far we have had the most trouble with raccoons, luckily nothing had breached the coop by they certainly are persistent!
ReplyDeleteFox,possums and coons are a real problem in our area along with the not so fresh scent of skunk!!! We sure could use the Nite Guard solar system for our lil ladies!
ReplyDelete<><
Starting our first flock . We have coyotes, skunks, foxes, raccoons, bobcaats, dogs, armadillas. just to name a few.We have already lost all of our ducks to these predators.
ReplyDeleteAtara McKinnon
So sorry to hear that. Ducks especially need a safe enclosed run and to be locked up at night. To lose them all is just heartbreaking and avoidable.
DeleteWe have 40 chickens and 20 ducks and fox, coyotes, racoons, possums, and skunks. Its a fruit farm, so we attract lots of winter animals looking for fallen fruit bits and munching on new growth in the winter.
ReplyDeleteFoxes are by far my biggest worry.
ReplyDeleteDeer eat our apple trees and shrubs sometimes to a level where they barely survive the growing season let alone grow. I would love to win this drawing so I could deter them. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest problem for us is the coyote clan that lives behind the house! There are so many, and they get so bold. We've also got the foxes and hawks and just about anything else that is a "pest" to country life!
ReplyDeleteRacoons are my biggest problem.
ReplyDeleteRaccoons and possums are our biggest concerns.
ReplyDeleteI have a problem with raccoons and possums trying to get at my girls.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have raccoons, possums, bears or any of those critters. What we do have is dogs! They will go after chickens in a flash and the only defense I have right now is my heroic cat who thinks she is a panther and will chase out any dog that comes by. So far.
ReplyDeleteCoyote and Raccoon and Opossum
ReplyDeleteHere in VA we have everything from coyotes to opossums! The biggest worry to our CHickens right now is a Bobcat & Our neighbors Dogs. Thanks for the opportunity to win this giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI lopst 15 chickens in one night to a family of foxes. This would be great to have! Kayla D.
ReplyDeleteJust getting prepared for my new flock - most worried about coyotes!
ReplyDeleteWe have a bobcat that I am worried about. A light would be a great extra line of defense for my ducks.
ReplyDeleteWe have trouble with raccoons and opossums, since we're in a suburban downtown neighborhood. I've chased them off more than once! So far, so good, but I'd like it to be better secured. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteWe have coyotes, bobcats, skunks, raccoons and weasels. Wendi James
ReplyDeleteWe have plenty of predators to worry about here in New Hampshire...coyotes, raccoons, weasels, foxes, etc. It would be great to be able to protect them better!
ReplyDeleteWe have bears, wolves, coyotes, deer (not that they would harm a chicken), raccoons, opossums, musk rats, foxes, snakes, hawks, eagles, turkey-vultures and who knows what else out there, yet it was the neighbors' dog that killed 32 of my girls in one day (just for fun) the day before Thanksgiving last year and then he came back the Sunday after and got 8 more. Since I saw him that time he got busted and was almost put to sleep. The neighbors elected to move him away and pay for me to replace the chickens.
ReplyDeleteI was so proud of them earlier in the year when 6 of them banded together and killed a small rattle snake. My husband said that after they killed it, they were fighting over who got to eat it...lol. Yes I would love to have a Nite Guard Predator light.
This would be nice to have! We've had a fox and coyote around lately.
ReplyDeleteI have nite guards on 3 sides of my hen pen so it would be nice to have one for the 4th side. I've seen racoons, opossums, hawks, and even mountain lions. It's a well built pen but I still worry.
ReplyDeleteWe have coyotes and racoons in our area so this would be very good to have to deter them. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what predators I have...something has taken several of my hens! Could be raccoon or opossum, possibly skunk.
ReplyDeleteI live in a rural area and there are several predators that live here too. During the day I have to worry about hawks. At night there are raccoons, fox, opossums, coyotes and even bobcats coming through. A Niteguard would put my mind a little more at ease at night.
ReplyDeleteWe have raccoons and coyotes.......raccoons especially come near the house.
ReplyDeleteraccoons and coyotes
ReplyDeleteKatherine D Schmidt
we frequently don't get home before dark so it would be nice to have one of these to help guard our flock till we get home
ReplyDeleteEven though we have a tiny lot in the city we have seen possums and skunks walk right past our living room window at night. Once we forgot to lock the coop door and I woke up to the ladies screaming. My husband and I ran outside and threw open the coop and there were TWO raccoons inside! Thankfully they were looking for eggs and hadn't yet started in on the hens when we got there. The chickens were spooked but unhurt. I'd love to have that extra layer of protection. I don't want to be running the local wildlife bed and breakfast!
ReplyDeleteJust started raising my first six hens and I'm so attached and afraid that the raccoons will get to them.
ReplyDeleteI have foxes and hawks that I would like to keep away!
ReplyDeleteWe had coyotes come through a couple of weeks ago... Yikes...
ReplyDeleteWe do have a major problem with racoons, they have torn down my pen and scaled my coop trying to get in. Thankfully no one has succeeded.
Hi my name is Elizabeth I live in South Carolina we have raccoons and possums foxes and coyotes and hawks we have solar night guard lights to protect my chickens and ducks an keep them safe it would be a great relief to know my flock is safe at night an I could rest easy for once. thank you
ReplyDeleteSkye Bleu-
ReplyDeleteRacoons, skunks, and possums. Deer in the garden eating my food!
I have coons, possums, feral cats, and have seen a few hawks where we're at. Sometimes dogs go through our property. So there will be worries when I get my chicks this spring.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway.
Deb
I'm in the planning stages, getting my first coop soon (yay). I'm worried about possums, racoons and feral cats.
ReplyDeleteOn January 21st of this year we captured a photo of a coyote with his paws pressed up against the chicken run fencing. Our coop is very secure with a wire mesh apron and netting on the top, but any security measure we can incorporate to keep them safe we will add.
ReplyDeleteI would like to win. A fox took my hens!
ReplyDeleteNiteGuard sounds easy, and safe. I'd like to try it out!
I am very worried about racoons, foxes and coyotes. They are all over here. I'm getting my chicks this spring, and I want them to be safe!
ReplyDeleteI'm very concerned about racoons, oppossum, foxes, coyotes, bald eagles and hawks. My home back up to a state park so my chickens are a bit too close for comfort to the local wildlife.
ReplyDeleteSo far we've already had a problem with raccoons and opossums. Lost a male duck to a raccoon and his mate was injured by one. We're thinking he was defending her. :( What scares me the most is lately we've seen a lot of raccoon and opossum tracks. Along with cat and dog tracks. This would be incredible to own!
ReplyDeleteI am new to all of this and am getting us ready to get chickens.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWe Liked NiteGuard on Facebook, already Like Fresh Eggs Daily on Facebook, also already signed up to follow your blog via email. Our coop have been raided by fox, raccoon, possum and owl, so NiteGuard light would be very helpful!
ReplyDeleteI have a solid little coop BUT I live in the northwoods and our property backs up to literally 1000's of acres filled w/all sorts of predators. From our porch we have seen everything from Ermine to Black bear (that one even on the porch!)and of course coyote, coon, hawks, eagles and even the occasional cougar or wolf. Only had my girls a year and so far they are all safe but I need all the help I can get to keep them that way!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo far, we have been lucky but we have hawks in the area and not really sure what's lurking in the darkness.
ReplyDeleteWe have lost chickens to owl, hawk, raccoon, and fox. We have coyote around, but they haven't ventured close to the coop...yet. This would give us peace of mind! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have fox, coyote and oppossum. I'm sure we have racoons as well, but I haven't seen their tracks. I lost 1 chicken just last week. Pesky nature!
ReplyDeleteI worry about hawks now the most, but also have possum and raccoon problems as well as coyote.
ReplyDeletecoyotes, coons, possum, and hawks all live nearby.
ReplyDeleteMy predators of concern are raccoon, skunks, bobcats, coyotes, and copper's hawks.
ReplyDeleteI did 5 out of 7 entries :) We soo need this, thanks for the awesome giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI worry about raccoons and coyotes getting our girls and boys. We have 80 chickens, a turkey. We have had a coyote not to far from the coop.
ReplyDeleteWe have racoons, coyotes, and opossums mostly. We try to lock up our 240 girls every night but you never know. Thanks for the giveaway NiteGuard!! <3

ReplyDeleteI worry most about the raccoons. We don't seem to have too many problems with coyotes or opossums.
ReplyDeleteWorry most about raccoons and possums!
ReplyDeleteWorry most about raccoons and possums!
ReplyDeleteRaccoons, we lost to large Roosters inside an fenced enclosure to a raid by one. Our dogs have manage to keep possums out of the area, but the coon tends to raid at night and can use the trees to move across the barnyard.
ReplyDeletethis would be cool to have.
ReplyDeleteRaccoon, coyote, and opposum are all concerns.
ReplyDeleteRaccoon, coyote, and opposum are all concerns.
ReplyDeleteMyra
I have wanted to try one of these for a long time, but a few weeks back my husband said he thought he saw a opossum walking along our back fence, now I want one more than ever!
ReplyDeletePossums, raccoons, bobcats coyotes..... among others . This would be such a blessing!!
ReplyDeletePossums, raccoons, bobcats coyotes..... among others . This would be such a blessing!!
ReplyDeleteracoons and fisher cats
ReplyDeleteI have one nite guard because of racoons and possums. I would like to get another for coyotes.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest concern is coyotes, & raccoons. My girls are locked up pretty good at night, so they would have to try hard to get in, but in the summer the screen windows are open for ventilation.
ReplyDeleteMy neighbor's dogs bother me the most. Twice now they have tried to get to my girls. The were sucessful the first time and got two of my four girls. We had to redesign the run to ensure that wouldn't happen again. The night guard would give me piece of mind!
ReplyDeleteI live in Michigan

coyotes is the concern we have we hear them at night
ReplyDeleteI have so many predators here! We've lost chickens to raccoons and hawks. We've lost rabbits to weasels. We have coyotes, owls and oppossum. It breaks my heart when I lose a hen or rabbit.
ReplyDeleteI have so many varmits....this would be great!!!
ReplyDeleteSo many predators in Texas, Been looking for a camera i can afford. This would be a great help to me and my hens :-)
ReplyDeleteI've done #1,2,3... #4 Raccoons! I have trapped 3 so far. I see their tracks every morning going up to the coop door, the pen door and the turkey pen door. I would love to have another tool in keeping my already locked up poultry safer. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't have Twitter so can't do 5 and 6. For #7, I am pinning this page to my Pinterest Poultrygeist board...I'm thinking that is the link you refer to.
I saw a possum lurking around our yard the other night... not so happy about that!
ReplyDeleteI worry most about coons and possums. We've seen a number of them on our property.
ReplyDeleteHer at The Funny Farm, we are worried the most about coyotes and raccoon.
ReplyDeleteI live on a wooded lot in the mountains of WV where we have every kind of predator! We have bear, coyote's, possums, raccoon's, skunks, stray dogs, cats and more around here which worry me greatly, so can't name just one. I know nothing is completely full proof but having this product is another safety measure.
ReplyDeleteI worry about the resident skunk and the racoons! We have coyotes as well, but we only see them during the day and the rooster alerts us to him/her.
ReplyDeleteNeed to try this. Traps are not always the best.
ReplyDeleteRacoons!
ReplyDeleteWe lost three pullets May 2011 to a raccoon. I worry all the time one of my ladies will be it's next meal.
ReplyDeleteopossum, racoons, fox and coyotes.
ReplyDeleteWe have racoons, opossums, coyotes and of course birds of pray. Would love to have some eyes watching
ReplyDeleteI worry about....hawks, possums, foxes, bob cats, racoons, coyotes and eagles!

ReplyDeleteWe have a pretty secure coop, but the feral cats around here worry me the most. And we've seen skunks also. I have a friend about 3 miles away (as the crow flys) and her flock was wiped out one eve by a pack of coyotes. We hear them at night, so I know there are around here. I've seen these advertised and would love to own one. Its just one of the things thats a little pricey for us right now.

I live out in a rural area in Oregon and we get plenty of racoons plus skunks and foxes, etc. But I worry most about the racoons since they're smart and nimble-fingered. I feel that I've done a fairly good job of making sure those critters can't get in but I still worry.
ReplyDeleteI worry most about skunk, racoons, coyotes, and grey fox here.
ReplyDeleteRaccoons.. we've had a few attacks
ReplyDeleteI worry about raccoons and foxes mostly, but also about coyotes. They are getting brave and coming very close to our house. I would love to win one of these to try and protect my flock. We lost several over the past year.
ReplyDeleteAfter loosing our coop to a fire last year, we rebuilt a pretty secure coop. We have coyotes often, racoons nightly, and our neighbor tells us they see the fox visit our coop pretty often. A few days ago there was a mink nosing around! They can squeeze through the smallest of areas... one year we lost a whole flock of meat chickens to mink. An owl sits outside our bedroom window in an old oak tree....wonder if he is "casing" the coop too! LIVING in a very rural wooded area along a channel of water, we see all sorts of critters!
ReplyDeleteBeen trying to leave a comment and it's not appearing - Raccoons! And coyotes are coming into our area too. I didn't believe it until a neighbor said there's a whole pack in the woods between our properties. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteWe have dogs, fox, owls, raccoon, buzzards, hawks and Lord knows what else.
ReplyDeleteLots of trouble with raccoons and bobcats and coyotes before I got my great Pyrenees
ReplyDeleteWe live in Texas and my dog can't be everywhere to protect all the chickens at the same time and I've always wondered about this light and want to try it out... I wonder if it will scare off bobcat
ReplyDeleteWere having problems with coyotes, bobcats
ReplyDeleteWe have foxes and cats...it would be great to have one of these lights! I would sleep better at night and I'm sure my girls would too!
